Wiper Motor


Disassembly

The following illustration is an exploded view of the wiper motor.
 

1. Remove the inner bushing.

 

2. Carefully remove the O-ring from the wiper motor shaft.
 

 

3. Remove the three attaching screws and the gear cover.

 

4. Remove the three attaching screws and the armature cover.
 

5. Remove the armature.
 

6. Remove the two brush plate attaching screws.
 

7. Remove the cover attaching screw and the brush lead cover.
 

8. Unsolder the brush leads from the wiring terminal and remove the brush plate.
 

Assembly

1. Attach the brush leads to the wiring terminal and solder using a 100 watt soldering gun.
 

2. Position the brush lead cover and install the cover attaching screw.

3. Position the brush plate and install the attaching screws.

4. To hold the brushes in position for installation of the armature, loop the brush lead over the brush holder.

5. Loosen the jam nut and loosen the armature preload adjusting screw several turns.

6. Install the armature.

7. Unloop the brush lead wires from the brush holder.

8. Position the armature cover and install the three attaching screws.

NOTE:
The adjusting screw should be tightened just enough to remove all end play from the armature shaft.

9. Turn the armature preload adjusting screw inward until it just contacts the end of the shaft.

10. Tighten the jam nut.

11. Position the gear case cover and install the three attaching screws.

12. Install the O-ring.

13. Install the inner bushing.
